Bands from Ramblewood Middle School receive excellent scores at MPA’s
Coral Springs, Florida – At the Music Performance Assessment held on March 19 and 20 at Monarch High School, the band program at Ramblewood Middle School was awarded additional distinctions.
Both the Symphonic Band and the Honors Band received flawless MPA superior ratings. The bands were judged on precision, rhythm, and basic musical knowledge.
John Nista, the longtime band director, expressed his pride in the band’s accomplishment and noted the students put a lot of effort into it.
They arrived early to practice before school and stayed late to continue their work. I give the pupils the credit. They put forth a lot of effort together and adore music,” Nista remarked. Following the evaluation, the members of the orchestra, chorus, and bands all went to Disney World.
Oboist and trumpet player Leyla Asar enjoys playing in the band. It’s fun. Being in the honor band is fun, and I adore music,” she remarked.
According to Asar, success in a band requires a lot of labor. “We practice a lot and attend a two-week band camp in the summer. We collaborate well, and I’ve made a lot of friends in the band,” she remarked.
Next year, Asar intends to join the J.P. Taravella High School band.
Trombone and percussion player Brody Leao enjoys playing with the Ramblewood band. “My passion is music.” I enjoy performing and practicing music. Next year, I’ll perform at American Heritage Schools,” he declared.
The Honor band at Ramblewood Middle is made up of skilled and seasoned musicians who are chosen through selection. Talented musicians are also chosen for the Symphonic band. Sixth graders learning the fundamentals of playing an instrument make up the majority of the beginning band. Two jazz ensembles at Ramblewood have committed players and practice after school.
On April 25, the jazz bands at Cypress Bay High School will have their MPA. After 28 years at Ramblewood and 43 years of teaching, Nista will retire at the end of the year.
On May 23, the Ramblewood bands will play their last show of the year at J.P. Taravella High.
