Coral Springs, Florida – According to authorities, on Friday, guns were stolen from unlocked vehicles in Coral Springs are winding up on the streets of South Florida.
Police say since 2020, 40 firearms have been reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in Coral Springs. Actually, the number of guns stolen from cars, trucks, and SUVs parked in the city is thought to be higher since some firearm thefts are not reported.
The number also does not include firearms stolen from residences in Coral Springs or seized during traffic stops and arrests.
“These are 40 firearms that are now on the street possibly being used to commit a crime, which endangers all of our citizens,” Coral Springs Police said in an Instagram post. “Please be a responsible gun owner and secure your firearms properly. An unlocked vehicle is not a secure location.”
