Coral Springs, Florida – A 63-year-old homeless woman was recently awakened in the middle of the night by a man who allegedly sexually attacked her on University Drive in Coral Springs, a police report said.
After reporting the Sept. 12 attack to police, Broward County Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory entered sperm found on the woman’s body and got a “hit” in a massive DNA database, the report said.
According to the report, the suspect was a 41-year-old Coral Springs man who worked at Old Navy at Coral Square Mall.
Coral Springs police arrested David Oliver on Nov. 20.
The woman told police her attacker choked her and smashed her to the ground between midnight to 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of North University Drive (near the LA Fitness), the report said.
During the attack, she lost consciousness and woke up to find the man on top of her, she told investigators, the report said.
While in custody, Oliver told police he attempted to rape the woman while she was “passed out” and he was intoxicated, the report said.
Police asked him on a scale of 0-12, how hard did the woman resist his attack, he said “12.”
According to the report, Oliver was charged with two counts of sexual battery as well as aggravated battery and lewd and lascivious conduct.
Oliver remained in Broward County jail on Sunday on $135,000 in bonds for the four charges, according to court records.
