Coral Springs, Florida – Several local schools, including Coral Glades, Coral Springs, J.P. Taravella Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Monarch, and North Broward Prep, were nominated for Cappie Awards.
There will be 48 categories in which nominees from 26 Broward and Palm Beach schools will vie for the honors. Performers, orchestras, designers, technicians, publicists, and critics are all honored with prizes.
The Cappies Awards are modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards and will include musical numbers and sequences from the top-nominated productions.
Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater of The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and South Florida Cappies Inc., is when the 22nd Annual Cappies Awards take place.
Student reviewers from participating schools who see performances at competing institutions and write reviews submit nominations for the Cappie Award.
After editing, theater educators post these reviews to FloridaTheaterOnStage.com. Students vote in a weighted peer-review voting procedure to choose the winners.
