More than a dozen district track and field champions come from Coral Springs

Coral Springs, Florida – Scary Fils won both the 1600 meters and the 4 x 800 relay with Elijah Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Ali Mustafa, helping J.P. Taravella’s boys and girls teams win the district championship. In the 800 meters, Fils finished second behind Vessells, Maleek Lubin, and T’Yquez Jenkins. In the 4 x 100 relay, Ray Graham, Miles Green, Ja’Michael Barnes, and Quentin Toussaint came in third; in their individual events, Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Wadleigh Valmyr also placed third.

For J.P. Taravella, Ajah Arscott turned in a historic performance, taking first place in the 100, 200, 400, and 4 x 100 relay events with teammates Damari Sibbles, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Kiana Taylor. In the 400 hurdles, Spann-Pierre triumphed, while U’Myri Bain won the long jump. In the 200 and 400 meters, Sibbles also took second place. Katelyn Tenn placed second in the long jump, and Caileen Canales, Cara Dennis, Marriott, and Raquel Arne also demonstrated impressive performances.

Boys’ winners were Sebastian Marrero in the 110 and 400 meters, and Jeffrey Belizaire and Matthew Wykpisz in the 800 and 3200 meters. In the pole vault, Cashmere Samuels triumphed, followed by Ravi Persaud. Haozhen Yuan placed third in the javelin, and Samuels ended as the runner-up in the discus. Antrell Wright and Zanu Fullerton are in the same place for their respective events. Zanu Fullerton and Daryl Myers placed fifth, followed by Matthew Wykpisz and Sebastian Marrero in fourth place.

In the girls’ events, Lydia Gentilhomme, Gabriella Gentilhomme, Olivia Higgins, and Bergyne Darang won first place in the 4 x 800 meters, and Za’coria Anestal, Shaquille Alvaranga, Michelle Poitier, and Jaylyn Samuels won a District Championship in the 4 x 100 meters. Alvaranga won the 100 hurdles, Olivia Higgins won the 800 meters, and Higgins also won the pole vault. The 4 x 200 relay team consisting of Lydia Gentilhomme, Olivia Higgins, Amelia Christopher, and Bergyne Darang finished second, followed by Trinity Dajuste and Bergyne Darang. The top four finishers Amelia Christopher, Alvaranga, and Angelica Macarulay all had outstanding performances.

For the boys, Devin Roman won the district championship in the high jump, while Montreal Thomas, Ezekiel Burrell, and Jordan Blaise finished second in their respective competitions. In the 400 hurdles, Burrell finished third as well. After that, he finished third in the 4 x 800 relay alongside Preston Dennis, Devin Roman, Jordan Blaise, and Ali Abdallah. The top five include Burrell, Blaise, Dennis, Madox Becks, and Anderson Jean-Baptiste.

For the females, Nekalia Watt took first place in the discus and Saniya Swain placed second in the 400 and 10 hurdles. Along with Zion Tomlin and Keelee Okoro, who finished third in the high jump, Camille Camper also placed second in the 4 x 400 relay with Saniya Swain, Chloe Martinez, Olivia Chester, and Gina Bido, Lily Bido, Daylean Lainez, and. Martinez Chloe. In the 4 x 100 relay, Grace-Ann Hermitt, Tamara Hall, Saniya Swain, and Chloe Martinez finished fourth.

Adrianna Harris won both the shot put and discus, but she only earned one district championship for Coral Springs Charter. In the pole vault, Eli Groothius led the boys to a second-place finish, and in the 4 x 400 relay, Gerald Tibbetts, Justin Laroche, William Urena, and Elijah McDonald placed fourth. In the 4 x 800 relay, Shaun Blum, Brandon Valdez, Shivam Rangoo, and Jordan Head also finished in fourth place; Gerald Tibbetts, Justin Laroche, Beylian Dejesus, and Elijah McDonald placed sixth. The Panthers ended sixth thanks to points from Dejesus, Head, and Jayden Byrd.

With Hannah Manger, Sarah Manigat, and Kendall Parrott placing second in their respective events, the girls took second place. Lily Richardson, Parrott, Mackenzie Maniscalco, and Anabella Thornberry placed third in the 4 x 800 relay, while Ava Dorvil, Reagan Pinkston, Jordin Sawyer, and Sydney Leath placed third in the 4 x 100 relay. In addition to placing third individually in the 1600 meters, Richardson, Marissa Micioni, Reagan Pinkston, and Samantha McMillan finished fifth in their relay race. With top-eight performances, Kiersten Etienne and Kaitlyn Stewart also contributed.
